“There’s a nerve center of ley lines beneath this ground. Dragon lines. The veins of mystical power that run through the Earth. Where else would you expect the Sorcerer Supreme to live? The New York Sanctum, also known as the Sanctum Sanctorum, is one of the three bases of the Masters of the Mystic Arts, alongside the London Sanctum and the Hong Kong Sanctum. A three-story Victorian-style brownstone townhouse built in the French Baroque architecture design, located on 177A Bleecker Street in Greenwich Village, it provides mystical defense for Earth and is currently protected by Stephen Strange and Wong.
Welcome to the Sanctum Sanctorum. The last truly weird place in New York City. Maybe the weirdest place left on the face of the Earth, though I don’t like to brag.”
Prominent features include: the undercroft with various containment cells for threats; the Rotunda of Gateways with portals to other locations on Earth; a medical recovery chamber inhabited by ghosts; M.C. Escher-ian staircases; several doors acting as gateways to other dimensions; and an attic displaying multiple magical artifacts and occult esoterica.
The building itself is warded by powerful spells drawing on the inherent mystical energies of the site. Due to its magical nature, the exact dimensions of the Sanctum Sanctorum are variable, allowing the building to seem more spacious on the interior. Additionally, furniture, doorways, corridors, and even entire rooms will move, creating a labyrinthine distortion of time and space.
( ooc note: largely mcu-based, but i include flavour from the comics to flesh out
the location and provide a few more magical shenanigans to play around with. )

Foyer / Drawing room / Library / Living room / Dining room / Wong’s kitchen

A grand staircase welcomes guests as they walk into the main foyer. Visitors must be on their guard, however, as it has been known to shift seemingly at random.
The main library of the Sanctum Sanctorum contains so much mystical knowledge that it actually causes a distortion in the astral plane. Wong serves as the collection’s custodian.
As well as being a trained martial artist, a superb valet, and skilled in magic, Wong is an expert chef, whipping up gourmet dishes in the kitchen that nourish both body and spirit.
Being a Sorcerer Supreme does not pay the bills, especially in an expensive location like Manhattan. Strange has opened a ground-floor shop in his house that sells t-shirts, posters, ‘magical’ bric-a-brac, and even fortune-tellings.
Strange’s bedchambers / Guest quarters / Wong’s bedchambers / Study

It is when he sleeps that Dr. Strange is at his most vulnerable, so this room is protected by strong mystic wards.
Even a Sorcerer Supreme must heed the call of nature, but his lavatory has been the site of arcane interference…
Meditation chamber / Library / Storage area for occult artifacts

When Dr. Strange moved in, he rebuilt the loft window in the form of the Seal of the Vishanti (or Anomaly Rue), a magical ward that protects the building from occult intrusion and contains the eldritch emanations within.
The loft is where Dr. Strange spends many hours honing his craft and meditating on the infinite realms beyond mortal ken. This is where he keeps his most valuable tomes and mystical artefacts. The Book of Vishanti is the linchpin of his sorcerous arsenal, containing innumerable incantations that give him control over mystic entities.
Furnace / Laundry room / Wong’s storage cellar

Even the Sanctum’s magic wards could withstand the elder demon gods known as the N’Garai when they created a Sa’apool portal from their dimension into Dr. Strange’s basement. Luckily, the sorcerer dispelled it with a pentagram.
There is a side entrance to the back of the building on Fenno Place. Valkyrie usually tethers her flying horse Aragorn here.
