( His own voice gentles, ebbing back from that initial annoyance. There’s few things he appreciates more than someone who’s willing to learn and at least try. (The sandwich, too, has helped. He’s less hangry. Julius is no longer maybe-dying.) )
In a sense, no, because a real emergency scenario will never be exactly the same as a test run,
but in another sense, yes, because training can at least help you prepare for it. Gather a better sense of what to do, have that muscle-memory sitting ready. Vyrantium— You’re from Tevinter? Are you a mage? If so, have you ever used your magic in battle?
(Speak for yourself; Vega feels stressed, her heartbeat quickening. She says carelessly,) Of course I'm a mage, (but does not sound at all offended.) I have not been in a battle before.
(Nothing serious. Nothing outside the realm of school, or her and her brother throwing each other across the courtyard solely for the amusement of their parents.)
No idea; I can’t tell the future anymore. ( ‘Anymore’?? ) You’re right, though, in that it likely wouldn’t be a part of your regular duties. But you never really know what’s going to happen.
Would you like to practice? Sparring magic, I mean.
I used to be the keeper of something called the Time Stone; with it, I could see the future and peer into possible timelines. It would’ve been a useful artifact and ability to retain in Thedas, but, alas.
( It might be reasonable to be annoyed about that rudeness from her; but in this, at least, he knows himself well enough to be blandly self-aware: ) Because it sounds very cool and impressive and alarming to mention it.
Plus, I have successfully worked some time magic here, and I’m still studying what scraps I can find of the art. Might be relevant again someday.
( hope springs eternal )
Anyway. The question, Arany. Would you like to practice?
Have you? (Time magic, she hasn't heard of that before. She wants to ask him more about that, what he did and how he did it, if they wrote their method down so she can read the notes, but he cuts across her suddenly. Rudely.)
( Ordinarily Strange would be happy to chatter on about time magic, but somewhere between shoving the sandwich in his face and running around attending to the seneschal’s poisoning and knowing some very bad news is about to hit the Gallows as a whole, he doesn’t much have the energy. Another day. )
Perfectly welcome. I’ll touch base, once things are less— ( how does one even describe what’s going on ) Well. Just, less.

(Her voice rises in horror.) What things?

All she can think to say is,) But I am not in Forces, so I would not be in the middle of things.

I regret to inform you that that’ll often happen regardless. We don’t always have the luxury of standing on the sidelines.

Then I will handle it as it comes. I suppose this isn't something one can train for.

Will I be in one soon?

This thread aged poorly
'Anymore'? What does that mean? (She says this like he's purposefully hiding something from her, tone indignant.)
“you probably won’t have to fight soon” [muffled explosions in background]

(It sounds like she thinks this was irresponsible of him.) Why bring it up at all, then?

Lady Arany! And — yes, I would.
Thank you.

'Less' what?

Less chaotic, less busy, less urgent. Being Head Healer means needing to attend to the occasional medical emergency, it turns out.

( oh, actually, there’s a thought )
Your magic. You don’t happen to have any healing or creation magic, do you?
