After several years of practice and concentrated study alongside native mages, Doctor Strange has been able to expand his skillset and adapt more of his old magic to work in Thedas.
SORCERY
Slingstep: An adaptable version of Fade-stepping. Being without a sling ring, he’s taught himself how to fold the Fade for short-distance personal teleportation within line of sight. It’s like cutting a wormhole through two locations, so if he’s fast enough, he can also cast this on objects; like a projectile disappearing and flying back in someone else’s face if they shoot at him.
Stoic (passive): This ability harnesses pain and transforms it into power, restoring magical stamina whenever he suffers damage.
CHRONOMANCY Building on the techniques developed after Granitefell, Strange is able to enact some small and very localised time magic:
Reality Break: Shatters the barriers between realities and timelines, thrusting a creature into turmoil and madness witnessing their own alternate timelines for up to 1 minute, although they can snap out of it. Will hurt and debilitate someone and depending on the d10 roll, might stun or blind or teleport them. Useless on constructs, demons, and spirits. He has to maintain careful concentration on a single enemy and can’t multi-task while casting this one, so it’s a little risky to use it on a bigger battlefield. (In execution, similar to Waking Nightmare.)
Wristpocket: Can flick his wrist to transport an object in his hand (no more than 5 pounds) to an extradimensional space, where it remains for up to 1 hour. Can summon it back to his free hand or return it within that timeframe. An object still in the pocket plane when the spell ends appears at his feet. Would be good for theft, or hiding an object or weapon when being searched, or just looking flashy and cool when checking the time on his pocketwatch.
+ UPGRADES TO EXISTING ABILITIES:
Astral projection → Dreamwalking. Just making it explicit that after practice and run-ins with Tsenka & Caius, he can now purposefully enter other people’s dreams, including to communicate with them at a distance; but with non-Dreamers, it’s more unpredictable if they remember or believe what they hear in a dream. Obviously unusable on dwarves or the Tranquil. He’s not strong enough to kill people Freddy Krueger-style, but he can mould their surroundings like a lucid dreamer.
